As the wastewater trickles down through the media, the microorganisms break down the organic matter and pathogens.<\/p>\n<h3>Tertiary Treatment: The Final Clean &#8211; Up<\/h3>\n<p>Even after secondary treatment, there might still be some pathogens left in the wastewater. That&#8217;s where tertiary treatment comes in. It&#8217;s like the final polish to make sure the water is as clean as possible before it&#8217;s released back into the environment.<\/p>\n<p>One of the most common tertiary treatment methods for pathogen removal is disinfection. We take samples at different stages of the treatment and test them for the presence of pathogens. We use techniques like culturing the samples in a lab to see if any bacteria or viruses are growing.<\/p>\n<p>If the pathogen levels are too high at any point, we can adjust the treatment process.
